Show on February 6th 2014.

(Ogawa) Sho + (Fujiyama) Shu
(Murakami) Hiroki
(Hirose) Goh

--------------- English -------------------

My last show with Lo-Fi was in September 2013. Since then... to be honest things have been really down-hill. Everything was a blur and all I remember was the sick feeling I had of being nervous like crazy most of the time.

Anyway, when I was having a tough time, many people helped me out and that's why I feel so much better now after a busy year end. (Feeling busy doing nothing but panicking rather....!)

First it was out of the blue that I decided to book my own show. But now I feel it's appropriate that I play my own music again... after this long silence.

Well... long for me at least.

So on February 6th 2014, I'll be doing a show with the usual support members for Lo-Fi at the Star Lounge in Shibuya.

We called the band "Sshg!" pronounced "Shh!" ... yes very generically named with the first letters of our names.

Hope to share more about the event soon.

Looks like I'll be ready soon!

Great news from the doc today, telling me that I can resume daily activities as of today! After a quick check up it seems like the incredible pain is gone for good!

I guess it's goodbye to those pain meds I've been sooo looking forward to for the last two weeks.

But of course... I'm going to stick to what my friends and family have been advising me to do....

IMPORTANT-> NOT to push myself!
I guess I'll just be funneling that energy into mastering the art of relaxation or yoga or something.

But here's one more piece of good news:

The venue is called "Waterline", Tokyo'a only floating bar!

Event space hunting...

(English below)

-------- English -------
I just got back from a long search of music venues in Tokyo for a fashion related event I'm help planning with some designer brands.
On my way back I was lucky enough to hear a good engine sound at the gasoline stand…!
Anyway this morning I was busy communicating with a band manager that I've recently started working with.
We've been discussing about these matters since last night. …back and forth until about noon today, so there was a lot said.
I guess I frustrated her so much that she couldn't stand it anymore. In the end I still had my gig, but reflected on a few different things I learned from this incident.
First,  that body language and your intuition they don't lie. If you feel something is up, something usually is. I don't think it's a good idea to just brush off that idea because your subconscious can do a lot more processing than we realize.
Next, that not understanding a certain culture's symbolic meanings and implications for certain actions or phrase combinations can create a lot of unwanted trouble. If you understand what certain actions can trigger in certain situations you can prevent that, but when you don't realize the outcome of actions that are "normal" to you…. well… Let's just say your dancing into a minefield without realizing it.
No matter how accustomed you get to certain groups or cultures, there are always things that you still don't understand or might overlook. I guess I need to focus harder on imagining how others might perceive certain actions or words considering their background and knowledge/experience.
Finally, it happens to all of us, but when you start feeling your busy… you start acting like your busy.
No one likes someone who is tired out of their mind or in a rush.
I hope to get more skills and better organize my day so that I don't feel so busy no matter how much pressure I'm under.
This is probably the best way to help make more people around me happier!

Sound check and China Town

(English below)

We just finished doing the sound check for today's show... again not Lo-Fi but another band that I'm helping out! I'm grateful that my services are needed in this genre of music too!

Really different from yesterday's jazz venue, tonight I'm playing at a hard rock club called 7th Avenue in Yokohama... it's their 28th anniversary!!! Amazing a music venue lasting so long!

To be honest with the jazz/funk/rock/R&B stuff I've never driven my amp head so hard to get volume so it's hard balancing my sound. I can hear myself loud enough but the band wants more volume. I've decided to boost the miss a bit.

Anyway... today I'm going to perform with shades.... LOL

hope to report on the show later!

This is a live jam from Lo-Fi!

I think this performance was a memorable one from Lo-Fi in 2012.... It's really great to have people behind us on songs like this where it's all instrumental. The popular music scene is filled with singing... so it requires a tiny bit of guts to keep doing this song live. It's got a good feel though, so I know we'll keep doing this song live!

This song is called "Cubic Glass" from our new album Fortitude.
It's available on itunes in the US too
