Filming a new music video ミュージックビデオの収録

今日はノリと一緒にピアノの録音をしていた。

Today we recorded the piano parts for our new music video.

Still a lot of the work is only preproduction level, but we are creating some new songs.

 

 

帰りには犬に遭遇、、、やっぱり犬はかわいいな。

こいつはタフな感じでシャッター音で吠えられた！

 

On my way back I passed by a really cute dog near the location we were filming.

 

 

これからは一緒懸命撮影した映像を作品に仕上げます！

So now we’ve got some hard work to do to get the video ready!

 

 

First we get the test video ready…, and then we’ll work on the real thing soon.

 

ほんちゃんを撮影するまで少し時間はあくけど、、、お楽しみに！

 

あ、ちょっと今年の活動を紹介するビデオも撮影したから、それもまた今度公開します。

Brainstorming

(English below the text in Japanese)

先日はいま制作を始めたばかりのビデオのミーティングをした。







アイディアを出して話すをするにも、言葉で映像や音の話は難しい。


いい点も悪い点も色々とあるけど、YouTube をはじめとする色んな映像を簡単に探して直ぐに共有できるのは便利だ


でも、結局頭の中にしかない物は上手く工夫して、例えを使って伝えてかいくしかない。


人とコミュニケーション取る時にいつも誰もが悩むことだけど、「本当に伝わってるのかな」と


実際のところ信じるしかなくて確認のしようがない。


アートは抽象的だからそのブレ幅がまた凄い 笑



システム開発とかのプロジェクトだったら、まぁ、「崩壊」している要件定義であっても、作品を作る時は「面白さ」だったりもする。



ま、「技術による」誤差や「人間による」理由で発生した誤差もアートだとかなり楽しめる。


今回の作品はメンバー間での駆け引きがどんな風になるのか非常に楽しみだ。

The other day we gathered to do some brainstorming for putting together our new song/video


It's always crazy trying to communicate your ideas and your visual images out into the world.

That's what art is right?

sharing ideas and expressing them is easier when you've got tons of sample images posted in YouTube to compare with. All this multimedia tool around you is confusing sometimes but a blessing at times.

I never really know how the message I've relayed is understood by the person(s) I'm communicating to.

I guess that'll always be the case.

This discrepancy is always doe thing to be enjoyed when creating creative projects (which should be all projects in the world)

but it's too bad that many people perceive a small difference of interpretation as wrong

I guess there's too much room in art for that and makes people afraid

日曜日は本当に楽しいライブができた、、、！ Superdeluxeで久しぶりにステージをやったけど、Jimi Tenor & Nicole Willis - "Cola & Jimmu”はやっぱりSuperdeluxeっぽい感じがしたなぁ。

今回のThe Lo-FiのSuperdeluxeアレンジも気に入ったからCarpe Diemとかリメイク版としてレコーディングしようかと。。。！


I set up this stage with a guitar on a special stand so that I could play while still holding the bass.  it actually worked pretty well

今回のステージではギターを特別なスタンドにのせて、ベースを持ち替えずに弾けるセットアップにした。結構うまくいったかも。




今日は成田からドイツへ向かっている。空港は学生で一杯。旅をするときは色々と考えさせられるな。
Now I’m actually on my way to Germany. The airport was PACKED with students. Traveling is a very consuming activity I don’t like very much.
But I look forward to meeting new people when I get there. That’s always fun

前からThe Lo-Fiのライブやアルバムのレコーディングを助けてくれているYuくんの結婚式に昨日は参加。今年はもっと一緒にライブをやるのが楽しみだ！

Yesterday I was fortunate enough to take part in Lo-Fi's Saxophonist Yu's wedding party. It was a lot of music and great food! I enjoyed it a lot. I look forward to playing with Yu again this year!







The wedding party was held at the Waterline. One of Lo-Fi's favorite places to perform.

Today we are in Roppongi getting ready for a show at the Superdeluxe

パーティは天王洲アイルのWaterlineで開催された。またここでもライブをやりたいね。

今日は六本木のSuperdeluxeでライブ。

The Lo-Fi... オリジナルメンバーライブ

Recently I had a rehearsal with The Lo-Fi.

Our band was benched for a while because of personal injuries and some of us being hospitalized…!! I’m doing much better both physically and mentally and now Nori is also back and we had our first rehearsal together.

先日は久しぶりにThe Lo-Fiのオリジナルメンバーでリハーサルをしました。

かなり久しぶりだったけど、一番最初に曲を書いてThe Lo-Fiのコンセプトも作ったメンバーだから、イメージが最初からなにも言わず、作りたいものが出てくる。

It’s great to be back with the original members that actually wrote the songs that we’re playing.

A whole lotta stuff has happened together with this trio. We’ve had our good times and bad times. Fighting and laughing, crying, whatever…. we traveled all kinds of place both in Japan and around Europe/Asia. These experiences I think show in our music. Something I like about live music and bands, is this chemistry that happens between the performers.
たくさんいろんな話をしてきて、一緒に遊んだり、喧嘩もしたり、笑ったり、泣いたり、なんか沢山の思い出がある。

国内も北海道から大阪、香港とかヨーロッパも色々と移動して一緒に演奏をしてきた。

ちっさいカフェのステージから野外フェスで数千人の前で演奏したし、ラジオライブやアコースティックライブなども挑戦してきた。

ライブペインティングのイベントも主催したり、シンガーのバックバンドも務めて来て、何年も一緒に音を作ってきた。

半年以上一緒にライブはやっていないが、お互いそれぞれの人生で新しい経験をして、ミュージシャンや人間として少し成長したかもしれないと思った。

人間性とか人々の関係も感じとれる、「バンド」というスタイルはやっぱり特定のメンバーでしか生まれない特別なものがあるからこそ面白い。この三人でパフォーマンスを久しぶりにするライブを見に来てください。

2014

To be really honest. 2013 was a really tough year for me and my music.

The Lo-Fi basically slowed down after my motorcycle accident and after some bad choices for part time work while I recovered…. I kept pushing myself until I was tired beyond a quick recovery.

I did help out with some of my friend’s shows and am grateful for their support.

Toward the end of the year, new project offers came in and was grateful that people still kept me in their thoughts… even though I’ve been away for a while now.

Teaching and performing is really the things that have kept me on the road to a full recovery.

I didn’t realize that the damage to my body is also so taxing on my mental state too.
I promised my family and friend’s that I’d take it easy… but haven’t followed through.
This year I promise to change all that. 

Today I had another show, supporting my friend’s band Antwarp.
I’ve got more shows planned for Jan and Feb. I hope that I’ll be in good enough condition to
help promote these shows too. BTW the photo is of the new dog I’ve recently rescued.

Thanks to everyone that helped me pull through 2013. Also for setting me up for a good 2014.

Like every year… this year will be better than the one before!

正直２０１３年は厳しかった！ 色々とありながら、事故以来本当にキツイ生活になってしまって
色々とバランスを崩して、肉体的にも精神的にもなんだか大不調が続いて、数ヶ月ぶりにブログも更新。

実は新しい家族も増えた。Jazzとは色んな事情で一緒に生活してないから、、、また犬をまたレスキューしました。 

２０１３年は本当にたくさんの人に迷惑をかける一年だったけど、皆様のおかげで２０１４年に新しいスタートができたとおもう。

これから本当にもっと体を大切にして生活をしていきたいね。
１月、２月とまたライブを組んでいるから、調子が良くなってきてるからまたそれも今後告知しようかと。

なんだか暗い、明けましておめでとうだけど、、、！

今年も皆様宜しくお願いします。いつもサポートを本当に感謝してます。

今日もあっという間に一日が。Another day flew by

昨日の深夜に家でやっと片付けが終わって、少し次の日の打ち合わせの準備をしたり。

たまたま友達が掲載した昔のライブの写真はとかも。

Last night after the show I got home and unloaded all the gear and finally finished cleaning up around 1am. Then I got busy preparing for my day ahead.

I also found an old photo my friend posted.


またかなりいい思い出のメンバーと一緒にやったライブだったなぁー

This photo brings back some great memories. Awesome band!



Anyway on my to my 11:00 I passed an awesome ride!

It was our first performance with Saori but it was a lot of fun how she approached the songs! I wish we had more time to jam together!

今回はサオリさんと共演するのは初めてで、かなりアプローチも楽しかったので、もっと一緒にジャムしたかった！


今回はバックステージでいつもライブを見に来てくださるファンからプレゼントも頂きました！本当にありがとうございます！

今回のライブは面白いカメラ HDR MV-1(ミュージックビデオカメラ)の撮影もはいり、公開できる映像ができたら公式のSONYのYouTube Channelでも紹介予定です！

For this show we had some interesting cameras there to film. The HDR MV-1 from Sony. It's their music video camera and the performance should be shared by their YouTube channel when the video is ready! Not the whole show but some of the clips from the performance!

a bit hard to find...! but great venue!

少し会場は探しにくかったけど、気持ちの良い場所だった。





もっと演奏したかったけど、お客様の終電や音止めもあって、二曲けずりましたが、また今度のライブはゆっくりやりたいな。


We had two more songs we were planning to jam on but for this occasion we were worried about our customer's last train and also the sound curfew of the venue so maybe next time for the other two songs!!!

If you want more at a show, let us know then and there! We'll play more if you want more...!

もっと聴きたい時は会場でアンコールでもなんでも、声をあげてもらえれば可能ならガンガンやるよ！

また次のステージが待ち遠しい。

今夜は気持ちがいい。Perfect night

今日は朝から天気はどんよりした感じだったから、昔撮った綺麗な夕日の写真をかわりにのせてみた。

先日は今週金曜日の夜のライブのリハーサルもしたし、本番が待ち遠しい。

このライブは時このときに延期になったのもあって、楽しみにしてる。

Juke Joint という会場も初めてで、結構期待しているんだ。

今夜はまたJazzと散歩。
気温がちょうどいい。

The weather was gloomy in the morning so i decided to upload a photo from a nice sunset i saw a few months ago.

Amazing how time flies.

People and your environment... relationships change all around you.

Its all so nostalgic for me i guess since i miss a lot of things in my past. not that I'm unhappy or anything. It's just that we can't get any younger or go back in time.

Anyway had a great rehearsal with the band and looking forward to a great show on Friday at the JukeJoint

京都は最高だった！ Kyoto was amazing!

９月１４日の土曜日は朝の９時頃からでて、本当に一日頑張って移動からリハーサルからライブと京都のライブは大変だったけど、最高だった！

September 14th was a really long day traveling to Kyoto, rehearsing with the band there, and doing a late night show…. but it was an amazing show!

 

ライブ会場の METROも絶対またライブをやりたいすばらしい会場だった。

The venue itself was really great too. I can't wait to go back there again to perform.

Here's DJ SUWA who invited us along with B-Bandj to be the band for FUTEN…! 

この写真はDJ SUWA、今回ライブでB-Bandjと一緒にFUTENのバンドとして The Lo-Fiを誘ってくれました！

Great guy!  本当にいい人で一緒にイベントできて嬉しかったです！

今回は鍵盤はRyuchiくんに入ってもらい、

Ryoji also on the keyboards…!

一緒にSaito Ryojiも鍵盤で入ってくれました！歌も歌ってくれました！最高！

 

今回は天気の悪いなかでのライブだったけど、満員になった会場のライブは本当に盛り上がって楽しかった。

This time the concert was performed in some really bad weather but we had a full house for the event and it was great…!

 

FUTENのバックバンドをつとめて、一緒にジャムセッションやコラボできて、この特別なイベントに参加できた。

このイベントは毎年FUTENのオリジナルメンバーであったドラマーの追悼ライブ。

彼も自分と同じバイカーで、バイクで亡くなられたという残念な話を聞きましたが、こうやって多くの人が集まっているのをみて嬉しかったです。

The Lo-Fi played as the band for FUTEN. We jammed and we were able to do FUTEN songs together and it was a real privilege at this special event!

This event is a tribute event for Fujitani-san who is the original drummer for FUTEN. He too was a biker and it meant a lot to me that we were able to play for his show.

It's great that so many people came here in his memory.
