"diary" like blog entry

Blogs were supposed to be more like diaries for people keeping records of their research or something like that right?
I mean when people first started telling the whole world what they were doing.

Recently people are using twitter and facebook and throwing even more information about their lives into the WWW.

It's interesting to see that in Japan there is a service called "mixi" and all the new functions are going the totally opposite direction.

It's an SNS that supposed to link up your "friends" networks, but unfortunately since everybody is afraid to put up their real names... you never find someone by searching for their last and first names.

If your looking for old classmates or church members or what ever group, people like to keep that private more than in the US I think. Thus, there is no way to search for your long lost friend that you lost contact with because you were too busy growing up during high-school or university or in your first year of your career.

Now mixi has some new functions where you can delete traces of you accessing people's profile pages, and also functions to limit who sees your blogs. It also has a grouping system to allow you to not display any information about certain "friends" without them really knowing it
(I guess to be polite).

I've heard of many people who registered in the service but decided to cancel their account and re-register,
instead of "blocking" someone or kicking them from their friend network....

I guess the off-line real social rules are directly transfered to the online realm as well.

My band Lo-Fi are busy in the studio recently and haven't been out much other than to have some meetings with event planners and also to plan the tour or the PR we plan to do for the upcoming album release.

I don't know if it's interesting at all, but we try and put up our information through twitter or facebook just so people know that we are alive while we are brewing our mix for the new album.

I mean, I live in my studio. So I really don't get much sun. We should do more meetings outside.

Looks like we're going to release a single cut before we have the full album out!
Look forward to more news soon.
