(English below)

The other day I was with some band members and we were walking through the city when I couldn't believe me eyes.
On this REALLY small street near the station, a huge bus was making it's way through the crowd.
I can't imagine the nerves of steel this bus driver must have, doing this tricky route day after day…… Hats off to the driver!

Anyway after a bit of giggling and calling me "gaijin" for pointing the bus thing out and taking photos we settled into an Okonomiyaki place. I love okonomiyaki. If you haven't had it before, it's basically Japanese style pancakes. (ooo. I can hear a few people disgruntled with this super-fought translation.. .yes it doesn't culturally fit the impression of a "pancake" oh well….)

We sat down and started talking about our future goals and our careers.
It immediately became a heated discussion about the importance of what school you've graduated from, or what famous artists you've played for.

I dunno, I guess that's really important in some aspects. I'm sure it'll raise eyebrows if it's impressive, especially on paper.
But at the same time I think that it's only one aspect of the person and may help to tell the story about who the person is. It's not everything and I'm sure everyone is well aware of that fact
But I must say some people are really stuck on the idea that if your not famous already, you will never be. ("famous" is interchangeable with "rich" or "successful" or "beautiful" or whatever) I don't think people are born into their success in whatever. Maybe some are, but not everyone. I think in areas where people don't really notice there's a lot of hard work put into any scale of success by anyone.
One point that all this discussion boiled down to (after some of us were pretty drunk) was that "communication" skill are above all the most important factor that determines a person's value in many situations.
Be it stage performance toward the crowd, or being able to understand your clients true wishes when cooking up a business plan for a consulting firm.
This is something that you can't really put down on paper or measure in a standardized way very easily, but if you work with someone or play with them you'll realize this aspect of their skill set right away I think.
I felt I really want to put an effort into being someone who can communicate well in all kinds of situations.
…...Especially being open to new ideas and criticism! How else would we learn?
